Latest Exam News: Updated 22 July

New for Woodwind from 2022

What’s new?

  • Refreshed repertoire lists for Recorders, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon and Saxophones at all grades, with some of the most popular pieces retained from the 2018–2021 syllabus.
  • New list structure encourages a balanced programme, helping you to develop different musical skills.
  • Duet option included in Practical Grades for the first time – up to Grade 3 and extended in Performance Grades at Grades 1–3.

For practical Grades, there are no changes to the scales and arpeggios, sight-reading and aural test requirements.

A one-year syllabus overlap period comes into effect from 1st January 2022. This means that, worldwide, pieces from the 2018–2021 syllabus can be presented in exams until the end of 2022.

The 2022 syllabus becomes valid for use in exams from 1 January 2022.

Any candidates taking their exams in 2022 must ensure all three set pieces are taken from the same syllabus.
