Make Music Day 2023

Taking place each year on 21 June, Make Music Day is a wonderful event in the musical calendar when people all over the world come together to celebrate and make music. This year we’re excited to be partnering with Make Music Day UK and have put together a set of fantastic resources to encourage and inspire people to get involved and make music together.

Every day from 14 to 21 June, we’ll provide a new resource on our social channels to help you on your musical journey. Tag ABRSM on social media and use the hashtag #makemusicdayuk to share your musical activities with us!

Take a look at the official Make Music Day pack to help you get started with your music making. And if you’re organising a musical activity for 21 June, why not register with Make Music Day UK and submit your event?

Free sheet music: Draw a Bucket O’Water by James B. Wilson

Earlier this year we commissioned composer James B. Wilson to write a piece for delegates at the European String Teachers Association conference. We’re now making it available for anyone to play or use in their teaching!

”Draw a Bucket O'Water is an adaptation of a lively Bajan folksong,” explains James.  “It has been written specifically to be inclusive and flexible, so it will be playable by as many learner string ensembles as possible. I chose to arrange this folk song because of its irrepressible joyfulness and Caribbean charm.”

The score and parts are available to download for free so you can get practising for Make Music Day and beyond. We’d love it if you could share your ensemble performance on our social channels!
