Dominic's story

After graduating from RCS with a MMus Perf (Distinction) under Stephen Robertson in 2014, I joined Opera North Chorus for a season between 2014-15.

Following this I joined the Berlin Staatsoper International Opera Studio for 2015-2017. In my first season at the Staatsoper, highlights included the roles of ‘Pietro’ in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra and ‘Baron Douphol’ in Verdi’s La Traviata, both conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Highlights during the 2017 season include the roles of ‘Colline’ in Puccini’s La Bohème and ‘Sarastro’ in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.

Thanks to the support of the ABRSM scholarship, I was able to focus more on specific areas of vocal development and pursue those opportunities that had a positive impact both vocally and artistically.

Upcoming highlights include representing England in the finals of the BBC Singer of the World Competition in June, and performing the roles of ‘Ferrando’ in Il Trovatore and ‘Alvise Badeoro’ in La Gioconda.

ABRSM scholars

Every year ABRSM provides more than 70 scholarships for talented British and international musicians to study at the four Royal Schools of Music.
